Kaila is a PhD candidate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) with a passion for student education and community engagement in science. Kaila played a key role in establishing the outreach committee of the EEB Graduate Student Organization and has developed science education programs with many organizations in the broader community. She has a commitment to inclusive teaching and mentoring. Many of the students she has mentored in the lab have been women and/or from underrepresented groups in STEM. Kaila has received awards for her dedication to teaching and recently for her commitment to student success through mentoring.
